Through the years, homeowners who have been aware of air transfer/loss through the attic have attempted to remedy it by placing insulation around the attic door opening. Unfortunately, this technique doesn't provide an air tight barrier, therefore, little reduction in the amount of energy waste and air loss is achieved. It also creates harmful airborn particles of dust and fiberglass each time the attic door is opened or closed.

Scientifically Engineered!

The Attic Tent is a specially engineered, patented insulator designed to create an air transfer barrier between your attic and living areas. It is a practical and economical solution to a problem that has existed since homes were first built with overhead attic entries. That problem is wasted energy through and around the attic door and stairs.

Attic Tent is the Solution!

The engineers at Attic Tent solved the problem of attic stair air transfer/loss from the perspective of the homeowner. They designed a product that not only significantly reduces air loss, drastically lowering your energy bill, but also provides safe and easy zipper accessibility into your attic. It also keeps blown insulation up in the attic where it belongs, not on your floor, each time you open your attic stair door.

The largest thermal bypass in your home is also the most overlooked! Your attic pull down has only a quarter inch piece of plywood between your home and the unconditioned air from your attic. Plus the quarter inch gap all around the opening lets in cold and hot air that is dusty, moldy and humid depending on the season.

If you properly insulated your home don't forget to address the biggest form of air intrusion into your home.

You properly insulated your home, have dual pane energy star windows and solid core doors with weatherstripping yet you have a hatch that's not insulated, weatherstripped or sealed.

The attic tent is a must if you have an AC return within 10 feet of your attic pull down or a thermostat near by. (Within 10 to 12 feet) the return will pull unconditioned air from your attic into your Hvac system and thermostat can be affected by the temperature change and run more frequently and causing to home to be unbalanced.

Some commonly asked questions:

How much money will I save?

We really hate to say it depends but it does. It mostly depends on where you live. The more severe the weather changes the greater the potential for savings. Our newest attic tents prevent more than 75% of the air transfer and should pay for itself in the first year of ownership. Typically about a 7 to 10% energy savings.

What is the attic tent made out of?

The Attic Tents are made out of "space-age" materials and consists of a durable outer shell. The attic tent is secured by a thick urethane and micro-fiber insulation which makes our product super light, very thin, and majorly effective!

How does it open and close?

Our Attic Tent utilized ultra-strong zippers that are built to last. The zippers are designed for ease opening and closing of the tent.

Does the Attic Tent have an R-Value?

Yes. They have been measured at at 3.2 R-Value. The design principles that make our attic tents so effective are the same behind storm doors and windows. The applied R-Value (value after applied) should be significantly higher when including the attic door and empty space inside the door / atti tent.

Is it easy to use?

Our Attic Tent is specifically designed with the homeowner in mind to significantly reduce air loss and lower your utility bills. The design doesn't stop there. It is also engineered with convenience in mind. Attic Tents offer an easy to use zipper accessibility to make entering and exiting your attic a breeze. In addition, the attic tent will help eliminate insulation from falling down from the attic and keep it up in the attic where it belongs.
